James Griffin

Notes: Friend and former teammate of 2002 DT recruit Jimmy Williams, James Griffin, like many safeties, loves to hit. Griffin went to high school at East High in Memphis Tennessee and verballed to Alabama, but failed to qualify academically and eventually made his way to Pasadena City College.

In high school, Griffin was an All-State selection three consecutive years and as a junior was state player of the year. He set several state records, recording 29 sacks for a season, 60 sacks for a career, and 19 blocked kicks. In his first year at Pasadena, Griffin was a first team All-Mission Conference selection, recording 69 tackles, 18 quarterback pressures, 4 fumble recoveries, 2 blocked kicks and 1 interception.

James enrolled at VT in January 2003.
