As a junior, Covington made 16 receptions for 428 yards and five touchdowns.

Coach Gordon Walters: “He’s 6-5, 190 pounds, and runs really well. He can fly. He has a 34 inch vertical leap. Maurice will play anywhere because he just wants to win. He plays wide receiver and tight end for us. He’s a great blocker at tight end. He also plays outside linebacker for us. He’s just an outstanding football player and he’s such a good student.”
