Notes: Philip Brown is Mr. Versatility. "I can play many positions for my team…running back, wide receiver, and kick returner. I like having the ball in my hands. But my favorite position is cornerback." He's well-suited for it, too, with blazing speed, toughness, and a real understanding of the game.

As a junior in high school, Brown, tallied 71 tackles and four interceptions. He earned all-region honors at cornerback and kick returner, and all-state honors at the kick returner position, where Phoebus coach Bill Dee says Brown returned an astounding nine kicks for TD's in 2001.

Brown loves indoor track and participates in many events, including the long jump and 100 and 200 meter sprints. He counts among his greatest track accomplishments defeating current VT cornerback DeAngelo Hall for the state long-jump title.

Named first-team all-state Group AAA at the kick returner and defensive back positions as a senior. Brown was ranked the #2 player in the state by the Roanoke Times his senior year.
