- Quarterback
- Class of 2004
- Chesapeake, VA (Western Branch)
- 6-3, 230 lbs
- Status: NC ST Commit
- Verbal Date: 2004-01-08
Notes:
As a junior, Pond threw for over 1,900 yards and 23 touchdowns. He earned all-district, all-region, all-Tidewater, and second-team all-state honors for his performance as a junior. A two-sport athlete, Pond plays baseball as well and hopes to play both sports in college.
Coach Lew Johnston: "Ryan is extremely intelligent in the class room, and he applies it on the field. He has the freedom to check off plays at the line of scrimmage for us, and he does that very well. He's got a very strong arm (throws a 92 mph fastball), has good speed and quickness for someone his size, and good escapability."
Committed to N.C. State for baseball over VT and LSU. Pond only received one football offer, from Clemson
