Twenty players from the 2003 recruiting class are currently listed on the Virginia football roster. Of those 20, ten
are listed on offense – quarterback Kevin McCabe ; wide receivers Emmanuel Byers , Fontel Mines , and Deyon Williams ;
tight end Jon Stupar; offensive linemen Marshal Ausberry , Ian-Yates Cunningham , Jordy Lipsey , Eddie Pinigis III , and
Gordie Sammis. The Cavaliers are hoping to add a similar number of players on offense this season, with wide receiver
being the primary target, as well as adding more big bodies on the offensive line.
Thirteen players have already committed to sign with Virginia in February of 2004. Of those thirteen, five figure to
play offense – quarterback Scott Deke , running backs Cedric Peerman and Andrew Pearman , tight end Tom Santi , and
offensive line prospect Zak Stair .
Look for Virginia to add around 8-10 more players for this year’s class, with at least five of those players being
on the offensive side of the ball. The top remaining offensive targets look like this…
- QB’s – None
- RB’s – Andre Brown , Dwayne Jones
- WR’s – Dwayne Jarrett , Doug Dutch , Mario Urrutia , Marquise Liverpool , Bryant Creamer
- TE – Rory Nicol
- OL – Carlos Feliciano , Marque Hall , Leon Hart , Phil Trautwein , Kyle Mitchum , Anthony Parker, Jaime Thomas
The following is the breakdown, by position, of Virginia’s offensive commitments and top remaining offensive
targets for the 2004 class.
