Harrisburg High School (PA) star Mikell Simpson , a versatile 6-1, 185-pound tailback recruit who is ranked as a 4-star prospect, travels to Charlottesville this weekend for an official visit. This will be the third time that Simpson will have been on UVa’s campus.
“I’m going to UVa this weekend,” Simpson said. “I just have to call Coach [Bob] Price to make sure of my flight times. They’re going to have a chance to show me more of the campus than when I made my last 2 visits there. I went for a basketball game as a junior and then I went to a junior day this summer. I want to see more of the campus and the gameday atmosphere.”
Simpson made an official visit last weekend to Michigan State. It was his first official visit experience…what did he think of it?
“It was a pretty good place,” Simpson said of Michigan State. “I liked the players. They are real good guys. They showed me a lot of stuff that goes on and answered any questions they had for me. “I’m going to Alabama for the Auburn game next weekend and then I’m going to UCLA from December 3rd through the 5th,” Simpson said. “The last one is up for grabs. It was Nebraska, but they just signed the kid [Marlon] Lucky and they already have some good young backs in there. I’m looking at Louisville, West Virginia and Wisconsin for the last one.”
Is there a chance Simpson commits before making all 5 visits?
“I want to see all the places, talk to my parents and tell them about all of the trips,” Simpson said. “I won’t commit before I take all my visits. Once I figure everything out, then I’ll make my decision.”
Simpson made the visit to Michigan State by himself, and expects to make trips to Alabama and UCLA by himself as well. His father will be joining him on the trip to UVa. Does this mean that the UVa more important than the rest?
“In his eyes,” Simpson said with a laugh, referring...
