St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) star RB/ILB Rashawn Jackson made an unexpected official visit to the University of Nebraska this past weekend. Jackson had originally stated that he would cancel the trip after he committed to UVa.
“The first thing I want to say is that Nebraska was a wonderful place,” Jackson said. “I decided to go to Nebraska when I started hearing about UVa looking at other tailbacks. I felt I would visit Nebraska and give them a chance. They’ve been recruiting me from the very beginning and I thought they deserved it.”
Does Jackson still consider himself a commitment to UVa?
“Yeah I do, but before I committed they told me different things,” Jackson said. “They said they were only going to take one running back and they would take the first to commit. I could see UVa calling me up and telling me they had gotten another commitment. So I decided to make the decision. I just wish they had told me from the beginning. Nebraska has Marlon Lucky committed…I just wish UVa would have been more upfront.
“I’m looking at Nebraska, but I’m still committed to Virginia. I still feel that’s the place where I’ll go. I’m still solid on Virginia.”
Jackson spoke last night with UVa coach Mark D’Onofrio, who is Rashawn’s primary recruiter. D’Onofrio will make an in-home visit with Jackson on Tuesday, where the two will discuss the situation further. Jackson is not sure if he will make any more visits. If he does, he’s considering Penn State, Tennessee and Rutgers.
