Morrow (Englewood, N.J.) linebacker/tight end Darnell Carter learned on Sunday that he would receive an offer from the University of Virginia. It didn’t take long for the 6-1 1/2, 225-pound star to commit and he became the 16th verbal in the 2006 recruiting class shortly thereafter. A 4-year starter under head coach Bil Davis, Carter, who has been captain all four years as well, chose Virginia over an offer from Illinois. He discussed his commitment as well as several other things in a Q&A with TheSabre.com last night.
A good athlete, Carter was clocked at 4.65 in the 40 during U-Conn’s summer camp this summer. He’s also a standout basketball player, earning honorable mention all-league honors as his team’s sixth man. On the gridiron, he was named his team’s defensive MVP as an outside linebacker in a 4-4 defense. At tight end, he earned second-team all-league honors last season.
