Solomon Tat , a 6-5, 225-pound shooting guard prospect Community Christian (Stockbridge, GA) head coach Linzy Davis refers to as the “Ronnie Lott” of basketball, announced for the University of Virginia today at a 6:00 p.m. press conference. Rated a 4-star prospect and the #96 overall high school recruit in the nation by Rivals.com, Tat chose the ‘Hoos over Georgia.
“I can finally let the cat out of the bag,” Davis said this evening. “It’s Virginia.”
After an unofficial visit to the University of Georgia in early September, Tat made an official visit to the University of Virginia on the weekend of September 30th. The official visit sealed the deal for Coach Dave Leitao.
Tat’s strength is indeed one of his strengths, and Coach Davis feels his star will bring a physical brand of basketball to the ACC. Versatile as well, Tat played point guard last season as a junior and has the ability to play the one, two or three positions on the next level. He averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists last season.
Tat becomes the second player to verbally commit to Virginia for the 2006 recruiting class. West Side (Gary, IN) 4-star forward Jamil Tucker was the first.
Stay tuned for quotes from Solomon on his decision.
