As Virginia coach Al Groh says, November is when seasons are made. That’s not necessarily true in the ongoing world of recruiting, but it is true that this month is key as far as UVa’s 2006 class is concerned. Virginia will host a number of recruits on official visits during the month of November and the staff would certainly love to close the month with several commitments in the fold. Currently, Virginia has 16 verbal commitments in the 2006 class and will likely take 7-10 more if possible.
The visitors start rolling in this weekend, when Malvern Prep (Malvern, PA) star defensive back/wide receiver Trey Womack will be on grounds for his official visit. Next weekend, one of Virginia’s top overall targets in the 2006 recruiting class – Highland Springs linebacker Jarrell Miller – will make his official visit. Westmont Hilltop (Johnstown, PA) speedster Brad Kanuch also has an official visit scheduled. The Virginia Tech game is always huge, and factoring in the recruits scheduled to be in attendance makes the weekend all the more important. That weekend, Virginia will play host to several top targets in 4-star defensive lineman Jared Odrick , 4-star tight end Andrew Quarless , 3-star defensive back Rico Bell and 3-star offensive tackle Hutch Eckerson . Meadowbrook star John Graves and Blue Ridge defensive back Greg Davis will likely be there as well in an unofficial capacity.
