The next two weekends promise to be big ones as far as Virginia football recruiting is concerned. This weekend, Virginia will host three official visitors including two key in-state linebacker prospects. Linebacker is such a key position each year – especially this year – and the staff would no doubt like to impress state of Virginia #4 overall prospect Jarrell Miller and #17 overall prospect Matt Wright in a big way.
Miller, a 6-3, 235-pound star middle linebacker for Highland Springs, is being recruited by Virginia as an inside linebacker. Miller was extremely impressed with his official visit to Tennessee and Virginia Tech has always been strong in this race. Don’t count out Florida or UNC, as both schools are scheduled to receive official visits from Miller, but I’d consider Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech as the favorites right now.
Virginia must impress Miller this weekend. As stated above, he had a great official to Tennessee and has really taken a liking to his primary recruiter from the Vols, Larry Slade. Virginia Tech’s coaches have developed a great relationship with Jarrell over the past four years, as Miller has been to Tech’s summer camp several times over that span. Miller does like Mike Groh, however, and doesn’t appear pre-destined for Virginia Tech like his former teammate, Victor “Macho” Harris, was last year. But Virginia will have to impress him this weekend in a big way.
Following this weekend, Miller will head to Florida on November 25th, Virginia Tech on December 7th and UNC on December 10th. He plans to announce his decision at the Army All-American bowl in January.
