Andy Ogide , a 6-8, 215-pound forward out of Paulding County High School in Dallas, Georgia, sent in his letter of intent this week and is now officially a part of the 2006 UVa recruiting class.
< ?php include(getenv("DOCUMENT_ROOT") . "/sabreincludes/realMedia/box.html"); ?>“I turned it in [on Wednesday,” said Ogide, who actually signed the letter of intent while on his official visit to Virginia last month. Since he signed the letter before the signing period expired, therefore he had three weeks after the end of the signing period (November 16th) to turn it in. “I was pretty sure after my official visit, but I wanted to make sure so I held it for a little bit.”
As a junior last season, Ogide averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game for head coach Joel Boone. In three games this season, he has averaged 28 points per game and has led Paulding to a 2-1 record.
Ogide, who has a nice touch in the low post and has showed a very nice outside shooting touch this season, projects as a combo forward for Virginia.
“Teams have been packing it in on me this season, so I’ve had to take the outside jumper,” Ogide said. “I’ve always been able to shoot from the outside.”
