Pottsgrove (Pottstown, PA) running back Brent Carter enjoyed an outstanding official visit experience at UVa last weekend. The weekend catapulted the ‘Hoos to the top of the list for the 4-star player, joining Penn State. Carter expects to have a decision between the two within the next few days.
< ?php include(getenv("DOCUMENT_ROOT") . "/sabreincludes/realMedia/box.html"); ?>“I liked everything about UVa,” said Carter, whose host was Chris Gorham . Gorham’s family lives right down the street from Carter. “I really liked the campus and the way everyone welcomed me. I liked the players a lot. I hung out with the running back from West Deptford (Kordell Young ) and Nate [Lyles].”
Carter likes the UVa coaches as well.
“The running backs coach, coach Poindexter, is real cool,” Carter said. “I enjoy talking to him. Coach Price is a fun guy to be around, too.”
Heading into the weekend, Carter had listed Boston College and Penn State as his two favorites. After the visit, Virginia is now in and Boston College is out.
“It’s between Virginia and Penn State,” said Carter, who cancelled an official visit to Minnesota previously scheduled for this weekend. “My commitment is coming soon. I’m going to sit down with my mother and figure it out.”
Carter has said what he likes about Virginia. What stands out about Penn State?
“Penn State is a great program headed in the right direction,” Carter said. “It’s a wonderful school and it’s in-state.”
At 6-3, 200 pounds, Carter was an excellent running back in high school and is being recruited by UVa and Penn State to play running back in college. In his senior year, he rushed for 1700 yards and scored 17 touchdowns.
“I’ve been told I remind some of Eddie George,” Carter said. He earned Philadelphia Enquirer all-Southeastern Pennsylvania honors for his senior year performance.
I like UVa’s chances right...
