4-star center Solomon Alabi has narrowed his list of schools to three, with UVa being one of the lucky programs to make the cut. Alabi, a 7-1, 224-pound recruit out of Montverde Academy (FL), has mapped out his September schedule as well.

Montverde head coach Kevin Sutton confirmed via e-mail last night that “FSU, UVa and Arizona” are Alabi’s final three schools. He also confirmed next month’s schedule, which includes official visits to all three programs.

Alabi will first make an official visit to UVa on the weekend of September 9th. Next, he will visit Arizona on the weekend of September 16th and will finish up his official visits with a trip to Florida State on September 23rd. All three programs have extended scholarship offers.

Look for Alabi to take all three visits before making a commitment.

“It’s my philosophy that our kids visit at least two schools,” Sutton said last month. “After that, we’ll sit down and evaluate the situation and determine where Solomon fits in best with his basketball career as well as a person.”

Alabi, a native of Nigeria, transferred into Montverde last summer. As a junior last season, he averaged 8.2 points (shooting 61-percent from the field) and 6.3 rebounds per game.

“Right now, he is a very, very good defensive player with natural defensive instincts,” Sutton said of his standout center in a previous article with TheSabre.com. “He can change and affect the game from a defensive standpoint. He either changes peoples shots or he blocks them. He’s smart enough and wise enough to know to keep the ball in play. Offensively, he needs to improve his low post game but he has a tremendous feel for double-teams and how to pass the ball out of double-teams. And right now his jump hook is probably his best move.”
