In Al Groh’s 3-4 defensive system, the 3 part of the equation – the defensive line – needs to be an active group of players that can absorb and occupy blocks to allow the 4 part of the equation – the linebackers – to lead the charge. If the linemen can also shed those blockers and make plays, then that’s a welcomed bonus. Can Chris Long lead an otherwise inexperienced and unproven group to success this season?
