Patterson Enjoys Second Official Visit

Five-star power forward prospect Patrick Patterson made his second official visit this past weekend when he traveled to Duke University. The star 6-8, 235-pound senior enjoyed his visit to Durham but still seems set on making the rest of his official visits before making a commitment. Patterson talked about this past weekend’s experience and gives the latest on his recruitment.

“It went real well,” Patterson said of his visit to Duke. “On Friday morning, I ate breakfast with all the coaches. Then we drove around campus and I talked to a couple of administrators. Then I saw some players and talked to the weight trainer. I watched the team workout and played some pick-up games with them. Then I went out with the players. I stayed with Gerald Henderson. My parents met his parents, too. On Saturday, we went to the Duke football game and they lost to Virginia. Then I went to a barbecue with the staff. We ate and talked. I met with Coach K before I left.”

Patterson noted several highlights on his visit.

“The campus…I really enjoyed the campus. It was amazing. I just liked the look of it,” Patterson said. “The players were great. The coaches and their families were great. And, it was my first time in Cameron Indoor.”

Patterson was also impressed with Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski.

“He’s a great guy,” Patterson said. “He’s straightforward. He tells it like it is.”

Patterson says the Duke visit compared favorably with his first official visit, which was to the University of Florida. He didn’t tip his hand to any potential favorite, however, and continues to say he will make all of his official visits before coming to a decision.
