While UVa won’t get former commitment Eric Wallace – who the staff stopped recruiting last week – it is hoping to land his teammate at Hargrave Military Academy, Mike Scott. Scott, a 6-8, 215-pound power forward recruit, made an official visit to Charlottesville last week. The visit went from Thursday until Saturday and it went well, as the former Deep Creek (Chesapeake, VA) standout enjoyed getting to know the players and coaches throughout the weekend.

“It was good,” said Mike Scott’s father, Michael. “He got there early enough to watch the football game on Thursday. He watched the crowd. It was a better game than the last time he was there, which was for the Western Michigan game. He talked to academic advisors and we had a nice tour of the campus on Saturday. He hung out with the players after the football game and more on Friday evening. He watched some practices. He was impressed with the team’s workout. They have nice facilities. He was very impressed with the arena they’ve built. Whatever you need is there, down to the cafeteria.

“As far as saying where this visit puts Virginia in the final four, I honestly couldn’t say. This is just one visit and there are three more to go.”

Mr. Scott wasn’t sure exactly which Virginia player was the host for his son. In fact, he thinks Mike may have had two hosts.

“I think that it was both Sean Singletary and Will [Harris],” Mr. Scott said. “I think he really felt comfortable [with the players]. The guys took to him rather well. On Friday night, he went out with Singletary. He talked a lot with Will Harris . Him and Will talked quite a bit. They went over to Coach Leitao’s house on Saturday afternoon. Those two players were the main ones he was able to connect with. He had a real good comfort zone with them.”
