Ed Davis , a standout junior power forward recruit out of Benedictine High School (Richmond, VA), may make another unofficial visit to UVa this weekend. Davis, who has been to UVa several times already, currently has the Cavs in his top five. He discusses the possible visit, his upcoming junior season and names a top five.
“It is a possibility,” replied Davis when asked if he would be in Charlottesville this weekend. It would be an unofficial visit. “I don’t know for sure, but it’s a possibility.”
As a sophomore at Hanover High School (VA) last year, Davis averaged 24.5 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocks per game. He transferred to Benedictine High School and has added about 25 to 30 pounds on his 6-8 frame since last season.
“Everything is going good,” Davis said of his experience at Benedictine. “Here, it will be more relaxed. We have better talent, so I’ll be able to just have fun. I can pass the ball more and things like that.
“Right now, I’m about 6-8, 215 pounds. I mostly feel like I’m getting stronger. I can finish more plays and grab more rebounds.”
In August, Davis had indicated that he wanted to make a commitment in his senior season. Asked if anything had changed in terms of when he could commit, Davis replied “nothing has changed.”
Which schools are his current favorites?
“My list is the same,” Davis said. “There is UVa, Georgetown, UNC, Connecticut and Virginia Tech.”
Davis, who has visited both Virginia and Virginia Tech on prior occasions, discussed what he likes about each program. He plans to visit both at least once more this year.
“UVa is like an hour and 15 minutes away from here,” Davis said. “They are coming up in the ACC, so it is an improving program. They’ve been recruiting me hard.
