Fork Union Notes: A New Offer?

Miller may head out-of-state once again.

Fork Union Military Academy’s varsity and postgraduate football programs had their workouts for college coaches earlier this week. TheSabre.com caught up with Fork Union Postgraduate Head Coach John Shuman for the latest on LB Jarrell Miller as well as info on a few other UVa targets, including one new offer.

Jarrell Miller, a 6-3, 250-pound LB/DE out of Highland Springs (VA), has received a release from his letter of intent with the University of North Carolina. Coach Shuman expects the former central Virginia standout to make it official very soon, if it hasn’t happened already.

“I was out of the pocket for a couple minutes earlier today,” Shuman said. “[Jarrell] had the release in hand when I last saw him. He wanted to call the UNC coaches and talk and I told him to also take it the Fork Union lawyer to look it over too. I don’t know if he signed the release and sent it in or is still holding it. He does plan to send it in.”

Over Thanksgiving break, Miller told TheSabre.com that he favored UVa. But, he also stated his desire to enroll in college next month. Since admissions will not allow mid-year enrollment for Miller, Virginia’s chances could be fading.

“The issue is that he wants to go somewhere second semester,” said Shuman, who says that UVa has offered Miller.

Boston College, Connecticut and South Carolina are among the other schools showing heavy interest. Miller has not yet set any official visits, although Shuman says he was talking to Connecticut earlier today about setting one up.
