Oak Hill Academy’s starting lineup consists of three seniors – 6-4 Alex Legion (Michigan signee), 6-3 Nolan Smith (Duke signee) and 6-9 Julian Vaughn (a Florida State signee) – and two top juniors – 6-0 Brandon Jennings (USC commit) and 6-8 Howard Thompkins . The group scored 72 of Oak Hill’s 74 points in this past Saturday’s 74-65 win over Montrose Christian, which boasts a talented but young team including UVa target Tristan Spurlock .

Oak Hill was led by Smith, an athletic, smooth, and talented guard who finished with 25 points and five rebounds in the contest. He helped Oak Hill jump out to a 25-16 lead after the first quarter, scoring 13 points of the 25. Oak Hill’s two other talented guards scored 19 (Legion) and 15 (Jennings), respectively.

He was on fire from 3-point range, making seven of nine from beyond the arc. 6-3 senior Adrian Bowie , a Maryland signee, added 12 points and tallied nine assists, nine turnovers, five rebounds and two steals. 6-7 sophomore Tristan Spurlock had 11 points and eight boards.

Though Montrose features three seniors in the starting lineup in Bowie, Brewer and 6-9 center Shane Walker (another Maryland signee), the team is a young one. Three sophomores – Spurlock, 6-7 Terrell Vinson and 6-8 Isaiah Armwood – are considered terrific talents.

“We have six sophomores, three of which are major college players,” Vetter said. “Most of them will eventually play at a higher level. Being able to play with the team we played against
