Hackensack (N.J.) star junior Ausar Walcott had an outstanding experience at UVa’s February 24th junior day earlier this year. Though the 6-3, 210-pound prospect has not been able to return to Charlottesville since, Virginia, one of six schools to offer the multi-talented recruit, continues to be at the top of his list.

“As of right now, UVa is his #1 school,” Hackensack head coach Gordon Whiting said. “It is his parents’ #1 school and it is still his #1 school.

“Coach Diaco has made a major impression on him. Guys from Hackensack have gone there and been very successful. It is one of the best academic schools in the country. The family is heavy into academics, just as he is. But, I can’t emphasize how much Coach Diaco has made a connection, particularly with the amount of time coaches can spend with kids. Coach Diaco is Jermaine Dias ‘ position coach, and Jermaine and Ausar talk. Coach Diaco is an honest, straightforward guy. And we have a ton of respect for them as a coaching staff.”
