6-8, 215-pound forward Ed Davis is “really just down to those three,” referring to Connecticut, North Carolina and Virginia. The 5-star rising senior out of Benedictine (Richmond, VA) has visited Connecticut and Virginia this late spring and summer and plans to head to UNC next month. A decision does not appear imminent but could happen next month.
In our last interview, Davis expressed the possibility that he could announce a decision at this weekend’s Peach Jam. Unless something changes, this will not happen.
“I haven’t made up my mind, so it’s not going to happen this weekend,” Davis said of a decision.
“I do hope to do it before I go back to high school. I hope to do it in August.”
Davis visited both Connecticut and Virginia in the month of June. He discussed the highlights of what U-Conn has to offer as well as his impression of the Storrs (CT) campus.
“With U-Conn, I like how Coach Calhoun develops players, produces them and gets them to the league,” Davis said.
“[The campus] is different. It had cows on it. I hadn’t seen that before.”
Davis made the trip to UVa with his mother. His father, Terry Davis, also visited UVa this summer. The elder Davis checked out UVa’s facilities and also spoke with UVa head coach Dave Leitao.
“I was there the last week in June,” said Davis of his most recent trip to Charlottesville. “It was an unofficial visit. I had seen the facilities before, but they showed them to me again. I walked around with the coaches. All the coaches were there. I talked with Coach Leitao. Basically, they were just like if I pulled the trigger I could help bring in a really good class.”
