6-0, 190-pound Stratford (CT) running back Torrey Mack committed to the University of Virginia on June 16th, which of course was UVa’s Elite Junior Day. TheSabre.com caught up with Stratford head coach Duane Shirden for more on the talented back, rated a 4-star prospect by Rivals.com and Scout.com.
Mack entered the Stratford program in 2004, playing running back in what was his freshman year. The best athlete on the team, Mack was moved to quarterback for all but two games of his sophomore season before moving back to running back last season as a junior. In 2006 he rushed for 1,689 yards and 21 touchdowns, earning all-state honors for his performance.
