Last Wednesday, Gateway (Monroeville, PA) athlete Cameron Saddler verbally committed to Pittsburgh over the University of Virginia. That decision seems to have put an end to any hopes of landing Saddler’s teammate and cousin, 5-star linebacker recruit Shayne Hale , who is now leaning towards the hometown school as well.
Virginia, which impressed the 6-3, 220-pound Hale last month on an official visit, is now out of the running.
“Virginia and probably West Virginia are on the outside,” Hale said. “It is either going to be Pitt or Ohio State. It is probably more slanted to Pitt right now.”
