Once the University of Virginia extended a scholarship offer to Brunswick School (Greenwich, CT) wide receiver Kevin Royal , that was it. The 6-4, 205-pound prospect had pretty much decided to commit to UVa late last month, which was when he landed the offer, but he wanted to seal the deal at yesterday’s Top Prospect Day.

“I’m on cloud nine,” said Royal, who only had the one offer but who had serious interest from Boston College, Connecticut and Miami, among others. “Virginia was my first choice and they offered first, so I knew I wanted to make this decision. I just wanted to come down with my family, check it out a little, meet Al Groh in person and tell him in person that I wanted to commit.”

Royal detailed yesterday’s experience, which was the first time he had ever been on UVa’s grounds.
