Ravenscroft (Raleigh, N.C.) forward Ryan Kelly , one of Virginia’s top targets in the 2009 class, is currently in Charlottesville, participating in the NBPA Top 100 Camp. The 6-9, 205-pound prospect arrived at the University of Virginia a day before the camp for another unofficial visit, with the main goal being to spend more time with Cavaliers players.

“It was a great time,” Kelly said on his experience on Monday. He spent a lot of time with Sammy Zeglinski and Will Sherrill. “That’s what I’m trying to do – get around to different schools and meet the different players because those are the guys you are going to be with all the time.

“I got a chance to meet most of [Virginia’s players] and really hang out for a day and do what they do. That’s important to me because I really think that is one of the biggest factors for me, the guys in the locker room, because you’re going to be around those guys all the time. You’ve got to like the guys.”

Kelly continues to list nine favorites. In no order, he says, “Virginia, [North] Carolina, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Stanford, N.C. State and Davidson” make up the final nine. He has offers from all of those programs and is pleased with all of his options, but he does plan to cut his list again relatively soon.

“My next step is to get it down to probably four or five by the end of July,” Kelly said. “From there, maybe take my officials or do what I need to do. To be honest, if I really have a gut feeling and I really want to go somewhere I would, but I’m just taking it one step at a time.”
