Tristan Spurlock ‘s AAU career may have come to an end earlier this week, but his decision-making process is heating up. The 6-8, 216-pound wing forward will indeed make an unofficial visit to Georgetown on Tuesday with a college decision likely to come in the very near future.
“I was talking to my parents and I will take the visit to Georgetown,” the Montrose Christian (Rockville, MD) standout rising senior confirmed earlier today.
“I want to check out everything before I make my college decision. I could have a decision within the next two weeks.”
While he does not want to rule out any other programs, there is a heavy possibility that Spurlock’s decision will be between two schools.
“[Georgetown and Virginia] are the main two, but I’m not going to rule anything out until I’m 100-percent sure of my decision,” Spurlock said. “When I pick my school, if I pick UVa or Georgetown or wherever, if another school were to offer and I wouldn’t get excited then I know I’m ready to make the choice.”
Spurlock, who says “I already have a good feel for UVa,” discussed what he will look for on his visit to Georgetown.
“I really want to find out what my role would be there,” Spurlock said. “Also, I want to see what my mom thinks. Education-wise, in UVa and Georgetown you can’t get any better. It is a no-brainer there for either school.”
The Virginia coaches, led by primary recruiter Bill Courtney, are being patient in waiting for Spurlock’s decision. UVa was one of the first schools to start heavily recruiting the talented prospect.
“Recruiting-wise, [the Virginia coaches] are the best recruiters I’ve had. Coach Courtney is my guy,” Spurlock said. “They keep saying they’ve waited...
