Josh Hairston is a highly rated prospect from Virginia.
Courtland (Spotsylvania, VA) forward Josh Hairston , one of the most highly recruited players in the 2010 recruiting class, has earned scholarship offers from Clemson, Duke, Kansas, Memphis, Ohio State, Virginia and Virginia Tech, among others. The 6-8, 215-pound prospect would like to make his college choice by the beginning of his junior season, but he admits that he is open to waiting beyond that timetable if necessary.
“I still want to have a decision made by basketball season,” Hairston said. “I’m still going to take my time, look at my options, and hopefully before the season starts I’ll be ready to decide. I’m going to take it one day at a time. I’m just thankful that these schools are recruiting me. I’m not rushing it. If I’m ready for a decision before the season, then I’ll go ahead and make it. If not, I’ll wait.”
Hairston denies having a leader at this time.
“I’m still leaving everything kind of open right now,” Hairston said. “Definitely, though, I want to start narrowing it down soon.”
At the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June, Hairston spoke very highly of Ohio State, a school he visited last fall. The Buckeyes have impressed, but the Commonwealth star stopped short of calling them a favorite.
“Ohio State is right up there,” Hairston said. “I do like them a lot, but I wouldn’t say I have a favorite right now.”
Duke is another out-of-state program that has impressed Hairston.
“Duke is one of the trips where I was real comfortable,” Hairston said. “I’m friends with Nolan Smith . He told me it would be a great experience. I had fun. I had a chance to sit down with Coach K. Duke is one of the schools that could be high on my list.”
