Will Spradling will visit UVa next weekend
Shawnee Mission South (Overland Park, Kansas) point guard Will Spradling does not intend for his recruitment to be a long one. The 6-2, 150-pound junior, a first-team all-league, first-team all-county and honorable mention all-state performer last year as a sophomore, would like to have made his college choice by the time his junior season begins.
“Recruiting is definitely on my mind,” Spradling said. “I’m planning on committing by November. I’m taking visits to all of the colleges I’m interested in and I’m taking them before the season starts.”
Spradling claims to be “open right now” to all schools, but there are four schools he knows he will visit. He will be in the state of Virginia next weekend (September 19-21), checking out Virginia and Virginia Tech. Neither school has offered, but both are showing serious interest.
“I know Virginia Tech saw me play in early spring,” Spradling said. “I was down with my AAU team in Dallas. I think Virginia started hearing about me through recruiting services. They started contacting me and then they came out to games in July.
“So far, I like both coaching staffs. I know they are both in the ACC. Also, I know Virginia Tech has a really nice campus. I haven’t heard much about Virginia’s.”
Spradling has been officially offered by Kansas State and UNLV, the two other programs he knows he will visit this fall. He will head to Manhattan, Kansas, in October and to Las Vegas in November. As the in-state school currently in the race, Kansas State is a program the talented junior is very familiar with.
