Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer and offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring stopped by Brookville High School (Lynchburg, VA) the Friday before last, to continue its pursuit of talented senior athlete Logan Thomas and junior defensive end Zack McCray , but also to scout senior offensive lineman Devin Bolling . We caught up with the 6-5, 270-pound Bolling to find out the latest with Virginia Tech and other programs he is considering.
The Bees starting left tackle has seen Virginia Tech’s interest increase this fall, but so far no offer has been made.
“The Tech coaches told me they would continue to recruit me. I don’t know exactly what they mean by that. I guess they are still interested,” Bolling said.
UVa continues to express serious interest as well; however, like Virginia Tech, an offer has yet to come.
“I haven’t visited there lately,” Bolling said of Virginia. “Coach Lineburg is still checking in with me and checking in with my guidance counselor to see how I’m doing academically.”
Bolling has yet to make an official visit, but he knows at least two official visit destinations – Boston College and Connecticut. He has visited U-Conn before, but the official visit would be his first experience in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He has been officially offered by both programs.
East Carolina (offer), Marshall (offer), Richmond (offer), Virginia and Virginia Tech also remain in serious contention.
“I do like U-Conn,” Bolling said. “I went up there when our running back, Stacey Houston, was up there to check out Yale. The campus is nice. It is big, but not too big and spread out. I love the knew building with the indoor field...
