Community High School/John Marshall (Richmond, VA) junior forward Travis McKie has taken unofficial visits to North Carolina (no offer), Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, but he hopes to visit at least two more schools before he comes up with a list of finalists. Where does the 6-6, 185-pound prospect plan to visit next?

“I’m going to try to take two more visits and then narrow the list down,” McKie said. “I’m going to visit Florida (no offer) and Clemson. Hopefully, I’ll go to Florida this weekend. That is probably unlikely, though. I’m trying to get to Clemson on Thanksgiving weekend. If I don’t go this weekend, I’m going to try to get to Florida soon.”

McKie was impressed by his visit to Virginia, a program that may have made a move in this recruitment recently.

“I was thinking about Virginia a lot last week,” McKie said. “[UVa 2009 class commit] Tristan [Spurlock] texted me. I started to think how it would be a good fit for me, but I don’t know right now. Every day, I think hard about every school. I try to picture myself at each of the schools. I know players who are being recruited to Virginia, but I know players for other schools too.”

McKie says both Virginia and Virginia Tech remain in contention. The Richmond star has not ruled out VCU, either.

“I’m thinking UVa and Tech are both good fits for me,” McKie said. “I think about those two schools night and day.”

This summer, McKie made no secret that UNC was the school he grew up following. He still likes the Tar Heels, though no offer has been extended and McKie is not sure where he stands on their list of targets.

“There is no word from them,” McKie said, referring to the Tar Heels. “I don’t know. They do things their way. The latest I heard is that they offered another guy in my class at my position.”
