At the Nike Camp in Charlottesville on May 3rd, Southern (Durham, N.C.) cornerback A.J. Marshall showed why he has earned at least 15 Division 1A scholarship offers. Marshall, a 5-11, 175-pound rising senior, felt great about his Nike Camp performance despite not earning defensive back MVP honors.
“Honestly I felt I was the best out there technique-wise,” Marshall said. “Several guys thought I should’ve won MVP, but one guy had one more interception than me and so he was named MVP. I worked hard at everything I did and I feel it was my best camp.”
Crediting the coaching he has received at Southern, Marshall believes excellent technique gives him an edge over the competition.

Mississippi, Oregon and South Carolina are the most recent offers for the Tar Heel state star, who has also earned written offers from Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, N.C. He seemed cool and it seems like he knows what he is talking about. I saw the campus my sophomore year and enjoyed it. We went there for a 7-on-7 tournament then. When I went to the UVa Nike Camp I couldn’t see or talk to the coaches, but I saw some of the facilities and they are top notch.”

“My top three right now are Wake Forest, Duke and Virginia Tech,” Marshall said. “I’d put Maryland in my top five....
