While coaching at Washington State, University of Virginia head coach Tony Bennett recruited Provo (UT) forward Chris Collinsworth. Coach Bennett recruited hard but missed out on the 6-9 forward, who eventually signed with BYU. It was then that Coach Bennett noticed Chris’ younger brother Kyle, a 2010 class prospect who recently narrowed his list to four schools. BYU and Virginia make up two of the four schools on the 6-6, 205-pound Provo guard’s final list.

“He is down to four,” said Jeff Collinsworth, Kyle’s father. “He is down to BYU, Stanford, USC and Virginia.”

Kyle plans on making four official visits before committing anywhere, but is there a favorite heading into the visits?

“They are pretty even,” Jeff answered. “Kyle’s goal is to go through it all and take visits to each school.”

Brewbaker Magnet (Montgomery, AL) guard K.T. Harrell and Lake Chelan (WA) guard/small forward Joe Harris have already committed to UVa’s 2010 class, but Bennett has not let up on his pursuit of Collinsworth.

“I think what Coach Bennett is saying is what Kyle does fits perfectly with the other guys they are bringing in,” Jeff said. “Kyle is a great ball-handler and passer and he can get to the basket.

“[Bennett] knows everything about Kyle. Kyle had an offer from Virginia the day Coach Bennett took the job.”

Collinsworth has lined up an official visit to USC for the first weekend in September. He hopes to have a date lined up to Virginia soon, possibly as early as tomorrow.
