Before the program’s struggles on Saturday, Virginia added a second talented prospect to its 2011 recruiting class. Matthew Bailey, a 5-10, 215-pound linebacker/safety out of Edna Karr High School in New Orleans (LA), pledged to the Hoos last Friday over interest from Minnesota, Mississippi, Mississippi State and Southern Mississippi.

Bailey, whose brother attended Hampton University, attended UVa’s summer camp earlier this year along with teammates Munchie Legaux and Hal Legania.

“I liked the way they treated me when I was there,” Bailey said. “They welcomed me with open arms. I just wanted them to give me a chance to show what I could do. They gave me a chance and I showed what I can do. I liked that and I liked the environment and all of the surrounding stuff.”
