Linebacker Curtis Grant tops my early in-state Top 10 for the class of 2011. The 6-3, 220-pound Hermitage (Richmond) star, a U.S. Army All-American, has already reached double-digit FBS offers, including a recent offer from national champ Alabama. Virginia and Virginia Tech have offered as well, and while Grant is open and doesn’t plan to decide until around Signing Day, his recruitment could turn into a key in-state battle.

Top athletes, standout linemen and a quarterback make up the rest of the current top 10, which could very well change by the time the Pre-Summer Top 30 comes out in early June. For now, though, let’s take a look at who has made the list.

1. Curtis Grant – LB, Hermitage (Richmond), 6-3, 220 pounds
Grant burst onto the varsity high school football scene in the 2007 season, when he helped Hermitage to a state semifinal appearance. He has followed that up with back-to-back seasons with over 100 tackles, including 154 tackles with 22 tackles for loss last season as a junior. Grant, an early selection to the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, has received official scholarship offers from Alabama, Boston College, Duke, ECU, North Carolina, Maryland, Miami, UVa, VT and West Virginia.

2. Dominique Terrell – ATH, Osbourn Park (Manassas), 5-10, 165
Terrell boasts outstanding quickness and speed. Osbourn Park’s starting quarterback, he totaled 2,144 yards and 17 touchdowns in the 2009 season. Terrell likely will be a slot receiver or cornerback and return specialist on the college level. So far, Terrell has received written offers from Duke, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, N.C. State, Pitt, Rutgers, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia, Virginia Tech and WVU.
