Around The State Recruiting Updates

Checking around the state of Virginia, Colonial Forge (Stafford), Manchester (Midlothian) and Osbourn (Manassas) all feature FBS prospects in the 2011 class. We’ll begin our updates with Colonial Forge, which is guided by longtime Virginia high school head coach Bill Brown. Coach Brown, whose coaching stints have included Hylton and Potomac, reports that two of his juniors have earned FBS scholarship offers.

Brown’s top junior class prospects are tight end Eric Frohnapfel , cornerback/athlete Tim Scott, quarterback Blake Frohnapfel and offensive lineman Nick Easter.

“All of these kids are drawing a great deal of interest,” said Brown, who coached former Virginia linebacker and current San Francisco 49ers defensive end Ahmad Brooks at Hylton.

6-6 1/2, 210-pound Eric Frohnapfel has earned an offer from West Virginia and is drawing interest from Duke, Maryland, Rutgers, Virginia and Virginia Tech. An AP Group AAA first-team all-state selection at tight end, Frohnapfel caught 30 passes for 736 yards and 10 scores last season as a junior.
