After hosting top prospects such as DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD) offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio , Dinwiddie (VA) defensive end Corey Marshall and Owings Mills (MD) offensive tackle Donovan Smith last Sunday, the Virginia football staff turns its attention to Saturday, when more top juniors are expected to be on Grounds. Green Run defensive tackle David Dean , Independence wide receiver Adrian Gamble , Kempsville linebacker Travis Hughes and Ocean Lakes quarterback Lafonte Thourogood are on the list of prospects we’ve confirmed so far.
< ?php include(getenv("DOCUMENT_ROOT") . "/sabreincludes/adTags/boxArticles.html"); ?>Listed below are those recruits currently offered by UVa who we have confirmed for Saturday’s event. As we learn and confirm more names, we’ll be sure to post them on the board and will follow up for updates throughout the weekend.
David Dean , DT, Green Run (Virginia Beach, VA)
Virginia leads for the 6-2, 285-pound prospect. After taking a liking coach Chip West, Dean will get a chance to explore Virginia’s program more in-depth. He said last month that he may be getting “closer to my decision.” Specifically, he indicated that he may commit this summer, though if the visit goes well it wouldn’t be a total shock if something happened this weekend.
Dean was an all-Tidewater selection at offensive guard last season, but Virginia is recruiting him to play defensive tackle. Duke, Louisville and West Virginia have offered as well.
Nyjee Fleming , RB, Independence (Charlotte, N.C.)
Fleming told PackPride.com (Scout’s N.C. State site) that the new staff is recruiting him just as hard as the old one, which originally offered a scholarship. Clemson, N.C. State and Virginia have offered the 5-10, 180-pound back, who is a teammate of Virginia 2011 wide receiver commit Adrian Gamble . Independence assistant Josh Kranish confirmed today that both prospects will be in Charlottesville on Saturday.
