Cavs Snare New Jersey Athlete

Max Valles anticipated the University of Virginia’s Elite Prospect Day being a positive experience. He was right, and he left Charlottesville a member of the UVa’s 2012 recruiting class. The St. Joseph’s (Hammonton, N.J.) athlete prospect committed to the Cavaliers over offers from Buffalo, Purdue, Rutgers and Syracuse.

“I was expecting to make Virginia my top school. I just felt there was no reason to wait anymore. It’s the school for me,” Valles said when asked what his expectations were heading into Sunday’s Elite Prospect Day. Along with the other prospects (about 20-25 were in attendance), Valles toured the Grounds, the football facilities, and met with the coaches before the day was out.

“Virginia just has that at-home feeling. It’s a place where I feel I’m still at home but still away at college. Once I got there, I could feel like I was at home. It’s a great college town. The coaches are there to support you.”

Accompanied by his father, brother, and cousin, Valles arrived in Charlottesville on Sunday morning. He would commit to head coach Mike London in the afternoon, shortly after discussing the decision with his father.
