Cornerback Kelvin Rainey will make an official visit this weekend, and at this point he is the only official visitor expected on Grounds. Rainey, who is also considering offers from Rice and SMU, is a 6’0″, 185-pound senior out of Stratford High School in Houston, Texas.

A commitment wouldn’t be a surprise (though the staff would certainly take it), but it’s not necessarily expected.

“I think he’s serious about Virginia,” Stratford head coach Eliot Allen said. “I know Virginia is something he’s very interested in. He has several other things he is considering, but he is serious about Virginia.”

Rainey primarily plays safety but likely will be a corner on the college level. He sees action at both safety and corner at Stratford.

“He’s going to play both here. But he’s such a good corner, when we play somebody with a good receiver, he’s going to be at corner,” Allen said.
