So far this season, the Virginia football team has followed a pattern. Two wins, two losses, two wins. The Hoos will try to break the trend and avoid back-to-back losses in this week’s ACC game against Miami. The Cavaliers take on the Hurricanes on Thursday night on ESPN.
The history in this series is limited. It’s only the ninth meeting between the two teams after all and Miami leads 5-3 in the previous eight contests. Still, since the Canes joined the ACC, five of the seven games have been decided by 10 points or less. The two blowouts? They came during Virginia’s last two trips to Florida. In 2007, UVa demolished Miami 48-0 just before the hosts demolished the Orange Bowl. In 2009, the Hurricanes got some revenge in a 52-17 victory.
In the Miami Watch List are a couple of items that could influence the outcome in Florida in 2011.
