In our initial examination of Virginia football’s needs in the class of 2013, it was clear that linebacker would be a major focus. The ‘Hoos are off to a good start in the linebacker department, but there is work left to be done. This “Strategy Session” takes a closer look at some of the remaining linebacker targets and which direction the staff may go with their remaining scholarships.

A Look At Linebacker Recruiting

Trent Corney

Projected 2013 Season Depth Chart: Linebacker (Going by the Post-Spring Depth Chart)

Sam Linebacker: Daquan Romero (Jr.), Trent Corney (2012 recruit), Mark Hall (2012 recruit)

Middle Linebacker: Henry Coley (Jr.), Caleb Taylor (Soph.), Kwontie Moore (2012 recruit)

Will Linebacker: D.J. Hill (Jr.), Darius Lee (Soph.), Demeitre Brim (2012 recruit)

2013 Class Recruits: Micah Kiser

Demeitre Brim may still get a look at safety, but he very much looked the part of linebacker at the Spring Game last month, measuring in at 6’3″, 225 pounds. If he does end up at linebacker, he says he would play the Will position. 6’3″, 245-pound Trent Corney , who just recently signed scholarship papers, will probably start out at Sam. Highly regarded
