Olanrewaju Raves About Latest Visit To UVa
Late last week, Salisbury School (Salisbury, CT) rising senior Sadiq Olanrewaju was back in Charlottesville for the first time since he committed back in March. Still extremely happy with his college choice, the 6’6″, 275-pound offensive tackle prospect admits he wouldn’t mind being a Virginia Cavalier now as opposed to a year from now.
Olanrewaju, who was accompanied on the visit by his mother and two sisters, arrived on Grounds Friday. He and his family took a tour with Bob Price Friday afternoon. Friday night, Olanrewaju spent some time with current Cavaliers Ross Burbank , Tim Cwalina , Greyson Lambert , John Pond and Jay Whitmire . The group hung out and went out to eat (at Raising Cane’s, of which Olanrewaju is now a HUGE fan). Most importantly, he came away with some good advice from the young Virginia players.
“John Pond told me his big mistake was not being in shape before reporting (laughs),” Olanrewaju said. “They all talked about life as students, what kind of classes they were taking, and we talked about balancing that with football. It was good hanging out with people who will play my position. They gave me a lot of advice. They are all like 305 pounds, so I was wondering if I was too small. They told me all of their weight was packed on after they got there. I’m on the right path weight-wise. I don’t want to come in too big. Tim, he and I have similar body types. We may be in similar situations. He red-shirted, and I may have to red-shirt. He just let me know the coaches take care of you even if you are red-shirting. Red-shirting isn’t a bad thing.”
On Saturday morning, Olanrewaju caught up with one of the players he was most anxious to meet, offensive tackle Morgan Moses. The two watched a good portion of UVa’s one-day camp together.
