Cape Henry Collegiate (Virginia Beach, VA) point guard Devon Hall entered the summer as a member of the class of 2014, but of course that all changed when he verbally committed to UVa on June 30. At the time of his commitment, Hall also revealed that he was reclassifying to the class of 2013. The 4-star Virginia commit, now just one month away from the start of his senior year, discussed what lies in store for him academically and athletically in the coming months.

Hall, an honors student, is well on his way towards graduating next May.

“I take my SAT in October. I’m all set with my classes. I have two mandatory courses left, and then I’m fine,” Hall said.

Athletically, the 6’5″, 200-pound athlete is keeping his individual goals simple.

“Becoming a little more aggressive,” Hall said. “Just keep improving. Keep improving. That means working towards being the best I can be.”

The 2012 AAU season didn’t quite go as planned for Hall and the rest of Boo Williams’ 17-and-under AAU squad, which struggled to find consistency throughout the spring and summer.

Individually, “Sometimes it was there, but sometimes it wasn’t,” Hall admits of his play on the AAU circuit. He alternated between playing the point and playing off the ball for Williams’ team. “There are always ups and downs. You just have to get better.”

Hall looks forward to what will now be his final season at Cape Henry Collegiate. He helped CHC capture a VIS Division 2 state championship last season, earning VIS Division 2 Player of the Year honors in the process. The versatile talent with a good feel for the game did a little bit of everything for his team last season, averaging 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. His role will not change much this coming season.

“It’s still to go out, lead, make plays and score,” Hall said. “The big thing is getting my teammates involved.”
