Virginia tight end Colter Phillips has faced some challenges in his Cavalier career. Last season, that meant playing through pain with an ankle injury that required surgery in the offseason.
Phillips hurt that ankle on the sixth play of the season opener against William & Mary and then missed three games against Indiana, UNC, and Southern Miss. Still, he toughed it out and remained one of the best blockers at his position, which helped the Hoos pile up the running yards last season. Phillips eventually started 9 games in 2011, giving him 25 starts for his career. He also has 26 catches for 204 yards and 3 touchdowns as a Hoo.
