Hoo Preview 2012: How To Create Quarterback Rhythm

There are a lot of terms in football that fans, writers, and commentators use all the time that no one really knows exactly what it means. One of those terms we hear often regarding the quarterback position is ‘rhythm.’ We’ve all heard it: “he was really in rhythm on that series” or “the quarterback and receivers have a real rhythm in this game.” In talking to Virginia coaches and players, I discovered it really means different things to different people and it varies from player to player.

“Every quarterback is different mentally so some guys would talk a lot about rhythm and for some guys it might not matter quite as much,” Virginia offensive coordinator Bill Lazor said.
