UVa Surges For Junior Wide Receiver

There is no question that social media is a major part of today’s recruiting world. So when talented in-state high school junior Jamil Kamara listed the University of Virginia as his college on his Facebook page, people noticed. Is there anything to it?
“I had Oregon, but I don’t like them too much anymore,” said Kamara, a junior wide receiver out of Bishop Sullivan (Virginia Beach, VA). “When Taquan (Mizzell) committed (to UVa), he’s a friend of mine and I was in a good mood, so I decided to do it.”
Kamara’s initial response doesn’t indicate too much with respect to how he views UVa. He later admitted, though, that Virginia is now his clear favorite.
“It’s safe to say they are at the top of the list,” Kamara said.
“When I went down [to Charlottesville for a visit this summer], I had a good conversation with Mike London and the offensive coordinator. That made a big difference with me. Plus, there are a lot of 757 kids going there (Kamara mentioned current Hoos Eli Harold and Tra Nicholson as friends of his).”
What about the meeting with Coach London and Bill Lazor really resonated?
“They were just saying I could come in and be a go-to-guy,” Kamara said. “The way Coach London runs the program impressed me.”
UVa certainly has the momentum in this race. Might a commitment come soon?
“I’m not quite at that point,” Kamara replied. “I’m waiting to see how the depth chart plays out. I’m trying to play early. And I’m still open. I’m still looking at other schools.”
What other schools are being seriously considered?
“(Virginia) Tech is still a good school with me. But I’m not only looking in-state,” said Kamara, who mentioned Clemson, Miami, North Carolina and...
