June Visitors

A number of prospects have taken unofficial visits to the University of Virginia in the month of June. DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD) class of 2014 wide receiver Cam Phillips will be the latest, as he is scheduled to tour the Grounds on Tuesday. In addition to UVa, the 6’0″, 180-pound prospect is also highly interested in Rutgers, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin. All five schools have offered.

More rising senior targets have been on Grounds in June. They include…

Marcus Applefield , Offensive Tackle, Weeki Wachee (FL)

From June 10 through June 15, Applefield visited seven schools: Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Marshall, West Virginia, Rutgers, Maryland, and finally UVa.

Attempts to reach the 6’6″, 270-pound prospect have been unsuccessful so far, but I hope to have the latest on his recruitment soon. Reportedly, three of the seven visits really stood out, but so far the identity of those three schools is unclear. He plans to visit Syracuse this Friday.

Kurt Holuba , DE, Bergen Catholic (N.J.)

Holuba boasts offers from ACC programs including Boston College, Duke, Florida State, North Carolina and Virginia. Arizona, Iowa, Michigan State, Rutgers, and Wisconsin are among the other offers he is considering.

The 6’4″, 235-pound Holuba has UVa connections — his father and sister attended Virginia — but it’s not clear how much that will impact his decision.

Melvin Keihn

Melvin Keihn , OLB, Gilman School (Baltimore, MD)

Keihn visited UVa on June 8 and followed that up with a visit to the University of Maryland the next week. A decision soon after those visits
