July 3 Visitors

Class of 2015 defensive tackle Tim Settle joined class of 2014 prospects Greg Stroman and Jay Payton in Charlottesville on Wednesday, July 3. All three players were making unofficial visits.

Stroman, a 6’0″, 165-pound athlete out of Stonewall Jackson (Manassas, VA), has now been to UVa three times in less than a month’s time. He made an unofficial visit on June 8, which is when he earned a scholarship offer from head coach Mike London, and then he returned on June 15 to compete with a College Prep squad in UVa’s annual 7-on-7 Tournament. A big part of this latest trip was to get a better feel for the coaches.

“I just basically came to talk to the coaches and learn a little bit more about everything,” Stroman said. “They were telling me stuff about the program. They were just telling me I have a home there.”

I asked Stroman if UVa is a place he could see himself over the course of the next four or five years.

“I could see myself there,” he answered. “I could see myself at any of the schools that have offered.”

Getting a feel for where Stroman may be leaning is tough, but at this point I do think his decision will come down to in-state programs Virginia and Virginia Tech. Those schools, along with Duke and Wisconsin, have offered the speedy athlete. In terms of which program may be the clear favorite, I’m honestly not sure at this point.

Stroman says he should have more visit plans hammered out by the end of this week. A trip to Virginia Tech seems highly likely. He says he wants to visit Wisconsin as well. Nothing is scheduled as of this writing, though. Stroman added that he wants to have made his college choice before the start
