The Cavaliers lost tackling machines in Steve Greer and LaRoy Reynolds, who finished as the top two stoppers in 2012. The duo combined for 212 total tackles, which accounted for 2/3 of the linebacker corps’ 321 stops.
To put that in further perspective, the next two linebackers on the list – Daquan Romero and Henry Coley – didn’t combine to match Reynolds’ 90 tackles. If you add up the tackles for all of the linebackers not named Reynolds, they still don’t reach Greer’s 122 stops. Anyway you look at it, that’s a lot of production to replace in 2013.
