- Virginia will be playing its 83rd season in Scott Stadium, which opened Oct. 15, 1931, against VMI. The Keydets are on the schedule this year too when they visit town on Sept. 21.
- UVa is 73-19-7 (.773) in home season openers and have won 16 of its last 19 openers in Scott Stadium. Mike London is 5-0 in season openers as a head coach.
- Virginia owns a 2-1 edge in the all-time series with BYU, which dates back to the 1987 All American Bowl in Birmingham, Ala.
- BYU won the last meeting in overtime, 38-35. That game opened the 2000 season and was the dedication game at the newly expanded Scott Stadium.
- BYU, which had played in the WAC and Mountain West conferences, is the first Independent team UVa has faced since hosting Navy on Sept. 10, 1994.
